“The one who keeps God's commands lives in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.” — 1 John 3:24

Growing up in church and being raised in a God-fearing home, I was always surrounded by the things of God, but there came a point in my life where I was confronted with the same questions Jesus asked his disciples: “But what about you? Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). I couldn’t give God an answer; I realized that, all along, I had been living on others’ revelations of God when, in every waking moment of my life, I have been given access to know Him personally through the presence of the Holy Spirit. There was a deeper revelation of God’s love, power, and presence that was missing from my life because I was not rightfully acknowledging, treasuring, submitting to, and operating in the active power of the Holy Spirit.

From the very beginning, God’s greatest desire has been for us to dwell with Him in perfect unity and oneness. Through the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, we now know that we have impenetrable, direct access to God, and that we are the temples of His Holy Spirit, our Advocate (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, John 14:26). Like a spiritual Airbnb, we have been given the honor of hosting His Spirit within us, becoming a place for God Himself to dwell! This is what ought to empower us to walk in the freedom and authority that Jesus died to win for us (Romans 6:20-23). I believe that God wants to reveal His love, power, and presence to a hurting world more than ever before, but as chosen conduits for His action, He is asking that we acknowledge, treasure, submit to, and operate in the power of His Holy Spirit more than we ever have in the past. We find hope, peace, restoration, healing, unspeakable joy, and everything that we need when we abide in Him.

"'...Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." — Zechariah 4:6

"Heavenly Father, I thank You that, through the blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ, You have given me direct access to Your presence and have made me Your dwelling-place. May the freedom I have to be one with You never cause me to take Your presence for granted. I am sorry if I have not conducted myself in a manner worthy of a place that You would call Your home. Help me to continuously surrender my desires and my will to You, so that Your will alone may be done in me. Today, I submit to Your direction and I welcome You, Holy Spirit, to dwell within me and around me. Teach me as only You can, and let everywhere that I go become a meeting place for others to come to know Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
