It says in Romans 13:7 (NIV) "Give to everyone what you owe them: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

In today's culture there is this mind-set that you’ve got to watch out for yourself because no one else is going to watch out for you. I’m sorry but that’s not the right way of thinking. Many people have an orphan mentality that causes them to seek honor for themselves but that's not how honor works. Similar to humility you can't claim you’re humble because as soon as you do, you’re not. Humility is an action not a self proclaimed description. We must be careful to remember that sowing is an essential part of our growth as a Christian. We must sow so we can reap. You can't expect to gain without sowing. So how do we gain honor? We all ,deep inside our heart of hearts, want it! So how do we attain this in a healthy gospel-centered way? We sow honor into one another. We recognize the people that spent time and energy, even
money to make our lives better for the glory of Jesus. We should sow honor to our predecessors and our mentors. We should not only honor them with our speech, actions but also with our resources. A great man of God ,my father, taught me to give to those that have invested into your life. Give them gifts and honor them by picking up the check when you got out to eat. Show honor in your actions because as we all know actions speak louder than words. A culture where we honor with our words but don't really mean it is not the culture that I want to be a part of; I love honoring people with words but it has to be more than that. Sow honor with your resources. Support ministers even if the ministries are finding favor with God and might not need the additional finances. It's all about being obedient and not about you trying to figure it out. Logic is one thing but better than that is obedience. Let's sow honor into the leaders, servants, and mentors that have poured into you. Think of someone that has done that for you and start sowing honor!

Prayer: Abba Father, let the Holy Spirit help us to sow honor into our leaders and those that you have sent into our lives to teach us and help us to grow. All things are yours and may our hearts submit to letting go some of our needs to honor others that deserve it. Thank you Jesus for all that you have done to honor us. You gave up your comfort, freedom and even your last breath to honor us as your sons and daughters. We love you and we long to serve your interests and not ours. In Jesus name, amen and amen!
